Do It Yourself vs. Professional Design
While there are advantages to designing a piece yourself, the world of print and publishing can be a confusing place. Many programs are available for low to mid range design, like Microsoft’s Publisher, and can be quite useful when it comes to everyday design. However, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
While these programs are good for simple, everyday design, very few printers will accept the output files from these programs. The best output comes from specifically created and high power design software, and these programs can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars for suites of products. They can also be very confusing for the uninitiated, and training in these programs can tack on many more dollars.
In addition, printers and publishers often need very specific types of files, with very specific requirements for their printing processes. If files submitted do not meet these requirements, it can often be very expensive to correct problems and can significantly delay the completion of your projects.
It’s the same idea behind the DIY projects around the home… you may be able to fix minor problems with your sink, but you should probably leave the installation of plumbing to a professional. Not only will you be happier with the finished product, it’s less likely to develop serious problems down the road, especially if you have little or no experience.
We have the know-how and the tools to make your projects a success. Feel free to contact us, and we can give you a quote on what we can do for you. And if you would still like to do it yourself, here are a just a few guidelines on what we may need. We will let you know if we have more specific requirements.
